Frequently Asked Questions

HOW DO I KNOW IF I'M PREGNANT?

The first indication is usually a missed period.  A positive home pregnancy test can also indicate pregnancy.  Presumptive symptoms, though not definitive, may include the following:

  • Breast tenderness
  • Nausea/vomiting
  • Frequent urination
  • Bloating
  • Headaches
  • Fatigue
  • Appetite change

To confirm your pregnancy, schedule an appointment for a free lab-grade pregnancy test.

When does the heart start beating? Will I hear it during my ultrasound?

The heart begins beating at three weeks gestation.  We can confirm viability for you by showing you the heart is beating, but there will be no sound.

I'm under 18.  Will you tell my parents?

All services here are treated with the utmost confidentiality.  You can schedule and attend an appointment without your parents' presence or consent. The PRC will not give any information to your parents without your consent except in mandatory reporting situations as defined by Arizona law.  If you have questions about these guidelines, contact us.

HOW MUCH WILL AN ABORTION COST?

The cost of an abortion procedure varies depending on your gestational age.  Pricing can range on average from $500 to $2500.  Schedule a pre-abortion consultation to verify the viability of your pregnancy and find out how far along you are.

HOW FAR ALONG CAN I BE AND STILL GET AN ABORTION?

Arizona law allows medical abortions up to 9.6 weeks gestation and surgical abortions up to 22.6 weeks gestation. Have questions?  Want to learn more about the options and risks? Contact us for a pre-abortion consultation.

Does AN ABORTION HURT?

As with any procedure, women respond differently.  The experiences of women who have undergone medical and surgical abortions vary dramatically. A medical abortion is usually accompanied by significant cramping and bleeding.  During a surgical abortion, some women experience substantial discomfort and report detailed memories of the procedure.  Others feel only mild cramping and their memories may be vague.  To discuss procedures and risks in more detail, contact us for a pre-abortion consultation.

WHAT ARE THE RISKS?

Possible risks may include infection, bleeding, perforation of the cervix and/or uterus, increased risk of infertility, and PID (in the case of an undiagnosed STI). Some women experience a negative emotional response characterized by depression, insomnia, nightmares, flashbacks, an increase in drug and alcohol abuse, and thoughts of suicide. If you are post-abortive and experiencing any of these emotional symptoms, contact us for help.

IF I CHOOSE TO PARENT, CAN YOU HELP ME?

Yes!  If you choose to parent, we can connect you with many resources including free or low-cost prenatal care, assistance with applying for AHCCCS, pregnancy and parenting education, material aid, maternity home referrals, free high school completion programs and more.  Have questions?  Contact us for a pregnancy consultation.

is adoption an option for me?

If you are not ready to be a parent but don't want to terminate your pregnancy, adoption may be the right choice for you. Adoption allows you to plan your child's future by choosing a loving adoptive family while giving you the freedom to control your own level of future privacy or involvement. Schedule an adoption consultation and we will answer all your questions about the adoption process.  If you decide that adoption is right for you, we can refer you to an adoption agency of your choice.

*We do not perform or refer for medical or surgical abortion.  We are not an adoption agency.
